Julien Lacour-Gayet Joins Mormedi as Senior Advisor
With over two decades of global leadership experience across startups and multinational corporations, Julien brings a rare blend of entrepreneurial spirit, strategic thinking, and design-driven innovation. Having collaborated with Mormedi as a client for more than 15 years, his transition to a more integral role marks a natural and exciting evolution in our shared journey.
Julien’s career spans four continents and a wide array of sectors, from luxury retail to next-generation medical devices and nicotine replacement therapies. He is a proven pioneer in applying design to business challenges, with several patented innovations and an IF Design Award under his belt. As a leader, investor, and board member, he brings insight and vision that align perfectly with Mormedi’s mission to create solutions that are both bold and beautifully practical.
We invited Julien to share more about himself and what led him to join our team.
Could you tell us a bit about your background?
Of course! I’ve always been drawn to ventures that sit at the crossroads of innovation, design, and strategy. I hold a BSc in International Hospitality Management and an MBA from IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland, an experience that shaped my thinking around customer-centricity and operational excellence.
Professionally, I’ve had the privilege of working on transformative projects in South East Asia, the USA, and Europe. At Nespresso, I launched both B2B and B2C markets. At Philip Morris International, I developed the first vending machine for IQOS and led the commercial rollout for heat-not-burn products across Switzerland, Japan, South Korea, and Italy. It was a unique challenge to merge regulatory requirements, product innovation, and brand storytelling, especially while integrating a new design language into the vaping space.
Later, I served as CEO of two medical device companies, which led to the development of a new nicotine replacement therapy approved by the UK’s health authorities. Throughout, I’ve stayed close to the startup world, as both an angel investor and board member for several emerging companies. I also hold multiple patents across medical, inhalation, and even office technology.
Outside of work, I’m the proud father of two daughters. I find joy in cooking, arts and crafts, and exploring new creative outlets with them.

What attracted you to join us?
What attracted me early on to Mormedi was its ability to blend design thinking with real, hands-on solutions. I’ve worked with many consultancies around the world, but Mormedi stood out. It’s a bit like a Swiss watch: precise, high-quality, consistent, and built to last.
And then there’s the studio in Madrid. The moment you walk in, you feel it. The depth of experience, the wisdom in the room, but also the warmth. There’s a real sense of family and integrity that’s rare to find. Being able to contribute to that culture and legacy is truly a privilege.
Looking ahead, what changes or trends do you foresee in your sector, and how would you like to address them with Mormedi?
In any sector, whether it’s healthcare, retail, or tech, I believe the need to balance insight with foresight will become increasingly crucial. Organizations are often good at understanding the now, but the ability to anticipate what’s next, and prepare for it, requires a different mindset.
That’s where Mormedi shines. The firm doesn’t just respond to trends, it interprets them, challenges them, and helps shape what’s coming. I’m excited to be part of that process: to work alongside clients in decoding complexity, turning uncertainty into opportunity, and making bold ideas tangible.
Julien’s multifaceted experience and global outlook will further strengthen our ability to guide clients through transformation, from strategy and design to real-world implementation. His values echo our own: a passion for excellence, a commitment to people, and a belief that great design is not just about form, it’s about impact.
We’re thrilled to be on this journey together.
Vamos a crecer ¡juntos!
