Mormedi interns share their experiences: Meet Benjamin

Say hello to Benjamin, Mormedi’s Industrial Design intern

At Mormedi we work across all areas of design: strategy, industrial, service, and digital. Year-round, we are happy to welcome the best and brightest interns from across the world to contribute and learn in each of the design areas.

We asked our most recent Industrial Design intern, Benjamin, to share his experience of what it was like to intern at Mormedi and, of course, to tell us about his experience working in the vibrant city of Madrid.

Benjamin, please tell us a little about yourself

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York City and I am currently studying Transportation Design at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan. I came to Mormedi three months ago in order to join the Industrial Design department as an intern.

What did you enjoy the most about working here?

I enjoyed the tightknit, family-type team that Mormedi has. You actually get a chance to meet and learn from everyone. Also, I was able to work on product design projects where I learnt how to achieve the perfect balance between aesthetics and functionality, whilst always thinking about the customer first.

What does a normal day for a Mormedi intern look like?

A normal day for a Mormedi intern would start with some team briefings on the current project and catching up with each person’s progress. This way, we were constantly in communication, learning from each other, and feeding off each other’s ideas. When solving problems, every idea was considered; even the silliest ones! This really set us up to work creatively.

How was it working in Spain?

I loved Spain’s architecture and culture! I had seen the country’s beautiful buildings online before, but you definitely need to physically go to a place and see things in order to learn from them. Also, thanks to Mormedi’s global environment I did not feel that language was a barrier at work.
