Disrupting cargo transport

HyperloopTT

As part of the HyperloopTT collective, Mormedi has designed a cargo transport system and iconic capsule that will change freight haulage forever. The HyperloopTT collective needed to design a sustainable freight transportation system to provide a solution to the transport problem situation

Challenge

As markets expand and international trade flourishes, cargo carriage requirements are increasing year on year. With existing infrastructure at capacity, increasing port sizes and upgrading road and rail networks is not a sustainable solution. As the system and service designers within the Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HyperloopTT) we brought end-to-end journey mapping and concept development expertise to the discussion. Looking at the practicalities, challenges, and opportunities presented by loading and unloading containers, and how the Hyperloop system could integrate into existing infrastructures.

Approach

Mapping the whole product journey, pain points, and opportunities ensured the final vision had credibility. From research to design, Mormedi’s designers and engineers developed a range of concepts, from loading systems to brand value-driven aesthetics. As part of an iterative design process, these were shared with stakeholders, discussed, and developed into a final vision that had universal buy-in.

Result

A feasible, credible, and compelling vision of the future of long-distance cargo transportation. A focal point for discussion and a statement of intent to excite and motivate.

A future for the logistics industry in which autonomous Hyperloop TT services help improve ports, road traffic and the cities where they are located.

Process

As well as visualizing the Hyperloop facility, we mapped the whole cargo journey from logistics planning to arrival at the port, to last mile transportation, designing a number of services and products to facilitate the process.
