Mobility service design for Germany
Fujitsu
To promote responsible habits and sustainable mobility, we collaborated with Fujitsu. We focused on understanding the context of sustainability, pollution, and transportation, identifying people's needs, exploring the market, and analyzing digital trends. Together, we developed various service plans, created screen flows, and tested them with users across different European countries to uncover potential business opportunities.
Although the project needed to be scalable to other countries, we focused first on the German context, with its idiosyncrasies and its openness to sustainable mobility. We discovered that there are opportunities because large and small companies are located throughout Germany, and many people commute by car from small towns and cities in the surrounding areas. Fujitsu had made some basic assumptions about the needs of German companies and their employees. Our research uncovered additional, real unmet needs, enabling us to create the right functionalities and provide Fujitsu with a clear road map for the new service's go-to-market.
To map the opportunities, we researched the competitive mobility landscape in the sector. We also looked at Fujitsu's potential strengths and areas of innovation in mobility, as well as relevant trends that could affect its future. Once this was done, we prepared the fieldwork and refined the potential service elements that would shape the prototypes. These would act as a visual and interactive complement for the creation, validation, and fine-tuning of the value proposition.
Through this process we designed, validated, and fine-tuned a multimodal mobility platform for work (commuting and business travel) and leisure that seamlessly integrates car sharing, public transport, and mobility services such as e-bikes and car sharing, in addition to enabling the booking of company cars, which expedites reimbursement and motivates and rewards people for being healthier and reducing their CO2 emissions.
Conducting in depth user research with employees as well as corporate and governmant representatives provided us with relevant insights that helped us to conceptualize a service that caters to the specific needs of each stakeholder.
