Joaquín Márquez Joins Mormedi as Senior Advisor for Digital Projects

We are delighted to welcome Joaquín Márquez to Mormedi as Senior Advisor for Digital Projects. With over 25 years of experience at the intersection of design, product, and digital transformation, Joaquín brings a rare combination of strategic depth, creative rigor, and the kind of clarity that only comes from having rethought complex problems many times over.

Joaquín's role at Mormedi is collaborative by design. He works alongside teams on the projects where his contribution matters most: reframing problems, challenging assumptions, and helping find the direction that matters. Not part of the permanent staff, but a regular and committed presence, he tends to be brought in when things are unclear, complex, or need to be rethought from the ground up. That, as he puts it, is where he feels most useful.

His path to this point is anything but conventional. Joaquín studied Journalism in Chile, graduating with honors, before completing a master’s in interactive digital technologies at Universidad Complutense in Madrid and, more recently, the Generative AI Applied to Digital Transformation program at MIT Professional Education. That first discipline, perhaps surprisingly, remains the most defining. Journalism trained him to ask the right questions before drawing conclusions, to find the real story behind the obvious one, and to communicate complex ideas with clarity.

From a partnership in a digital consultancy to Global Chief Design Officer at a large international bank, and now as an independent advisor, mentor, and educator, Joaquín has spent his career operating at the edge of design, product, and transformation. Working with Mormedi, he says, is in part the realization of something he had wanted for a long time. He had admired the work for years, the type of projects, the level they operate at, the quality of what they produce, until that admiration, as he describes it, turned into the right kind of professional envy.

Outside of work, Joaquín's life reflects the same balance of precision and passion. He cooks with the same rigor he applies to a brief, is currently learning welding as part of a growing interest in metalwork and tends tomatoes at his orchard. He spends as much time in the countryside as he can, usually accompanied by Monk, a nearly five-year-old white golden retriever named after Thelonious, which, he notes, should say something about his relationship with music.
