One of the world's leading e-scooter manufacturers wanted a brand new, innovative electric vehicle for the urban environment

Torrot asked Mormedi to create a new, fully electric vehicle that responded to the unmet needs of urban users. 
In just 10 months, Mormedi created a vehicle from scratch that has carved out a new niche. The Velocipedo has achieved 6,000 pre-orders vs. projected first year sales of 3,000 units.

# The Challenge
Torrot challenged Mormedi to createa new electric vehicle specifically adapted to the real conditions ofurban life. 
Mormedi sought to develop a vehicle that was attractive to people that wanted to find a better solution to getting around the city. 
The result had to be so convincing that it could persuade users of motorcycles, cars and public transportation to consider this product.

# Our Approach
In order to carve out a real niche within urban mobility, Mormedi went about identifying the difficulties, concerns and desires of potential users. 
The research and strategy phase of the project established that the vehicle had to be truly practical: agile, safe, comfortable, connected and universal. 
Mormedi then used these insights as the basis for an iterative design process from initial concepts through to prototypingand user testing.

As part of the HyperloopTT collective, Mormedi has designed a cargo transport system and iconic capsule that will change freight haulage forever.

# The challenge
With global adoption of digital technology and the emergence of new markets, the international trade is flourishing, requiring more and more cargo capacity every year. Many main ports are currently running at maximum capacity, while rail & road transport are increasing their delivery times, increasing uncertainty levels. Furthermore, it is estimated that by 2030 there will be a +50% traffic increase and +70% global freight volume increase.

Commited with this problem, as a part of the Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (Hyperloop TT) global mobility collective, Mormedi was in charge of designing the entire end-to-end journey for freight haulage, from the process by which containers would be inserted into the capsule to envisioning feasible ways of integrating Hyperloop into current port systems.

Mormedi also designed an iconic cargo transportation capsule, as well as an autonomous vehicle that could move containers into the Hyperloop capsule.

# Our approach

Mormedi developed an approach in close collaboration with the Hyperloop TT team for over 12 months, in order to leverage Hyperloop’s technology to integrate x-to-end cargo solutions and improve at systematic level the infrastructure, environmental and economic challenges detected today.

The project was carried out in two phases: research and design. 

During the research phase, Mormedi carried out an in-depth investigation of Hyperloop’s project in order to map the whole product journey, its technical needs, and the technology inside to solve the pain points of the industry.

During the design phase, Mormedi’s industrial designers and engineers developed several concepts for the freight capsule, including different loading systems. Mormedi designed plans for how cargo should work within Hyperloop, and how Hyperloop could be feasibly implemented within existing port infrastructure.

Renfe Cercanías—the state operator of commuter trains and stations in major Spanish cities—entrusted Mormedi with the redesign of its environment, including stations, train carriages, signage, and in-station flow. 
Mormedi created an experience that was consistent and more adapted to the needs of all travelers, including the aged, those with disabilities, and people carrying luggage.

Renfe Cercanías wanted to make the design of its trains and train stations consistent, and align stations under its new corporate image. Mormedi wanted to combine this corporate goal with a design that was much more human-centred.

Mormedi analysed existing stations and explored the expectations of all travellers, including the aged, those with disabilities, and those with luggage. Other important inputs were the branding expectations of the company, sustainability, safety, and adaptability to new technologies.

# The challenge 

Software and connectivity are going to be major drivers of differentiation and premium pricing. Nissan  therefore wanted Mormedi to help it understand
the current and future trends in in-vehicle infotainment, and design UX/UI proposals for the upcoming models of Nissan's premium Infiniti brand.

# Our approach 

Mormedi carried out in-depth user research and investigated how different generations interacted with cars, and what they expected from IVI systems. In addition, a thorough benchmarking exercise was done to see how other makers were approaching the issue, and an exploration of applicable technologies. Based on this data, Mormedi designed cutting-edge proposals, including prototypes and implementation roadmaps.

Iberia entrusted Mormedi with the design of its new fleet of A330 (and later A350) aircraft’s Business and Tourist Classes. 
Mormedi’s clever design increased the sense of privacy and comfort, and added 4 seats in the A330 business class for an extra €1m/year in revenue for each of the 32 planes.

# The challenge 

Mormedi faced the challenge of designing Business and Economy Class seating and furniture for the A330 fleet that balanced efficiency, passenger experience, and comfort, and reflected Iberia’s brand. In addition, one of the main objectives for Iberia was improved cabin density optimisation. 
Managing the different companies involved, including those responsible for manufacturing and installation, was also critical to the project’s success.

# Our approach 

To define the best product strategy and cabin design to meet the needs of Iberia and its clients, Mormedi conducted extensive market research. This included an audit and benchmarking of the products and services of Iberia and its competitors; employee workshops, customer interviews, user tests and the creation of a user experience map from ticket purchase to destination exit point. 
We managed the entire development of the project, from conceptualisation to manufacturing, and collaborated closely with Iberia throughout the three-year long process.

Alstom, the French rolling stock manufacturer, asked Mormedi to support in its bid to win a major commuter train contract by understanding the needs of travellers, and designing the trains’ CMF and livery.

Mormedi carried out a thorough investigation of the passengers, managing to profile them based on the space they need in the car and the time they require in their journey. In this way, he managed to lay the foundations for the design of the trains, which helped Alstom win the largest contract in the history of Renfe, the Spanish national railway operator, with an agreement for 152 high-capacity trains.

# The challenge 

To be able to design innovative trains that would win Spain’s national commuter train tender, Alstom asked Mormedi to uncover the insights and outline a design strategy that would respond to passengers’ needs. In addition, Alstom also asked Mormedi to define the look of the trains in terms of the livery and the colour, materials, and finish.


# Our approach

Mormedi began the project by carrying out in-depth research with passengers, as well as into trends and competitors. 
Primary research consisted of stakeholder interviews, observation, and safaris to uncover unmet needs and pain points. Using the principle of universal design, we mapped the current traveller experience and defined a new way to approach different passenger profiles. In addition, the secondary research consisted of a competitor benchmark and analysis of business and technology trends. 
Through the analysis of the research findings, Mormedi came up with 22 key insights across the passenger journey that needed to be considered in designing a new train. These inputs were used to create a prioritized opportunity map, as well as the design guidelines for the next generation trains.

Ferrovial needed to create a brand that was relatable and accessible to an audience that varied widely in demographics and needs, but that was going to become an essential, everyday tool.
Mormedi sought to create a product strategy and design a brand language with the right balance between the functional and the emotional, and that reflected the brand values of purity, experience, and quality.

# Our approach
The first thing we did was to understand and analyse the service and look at the company’s goals for the short, medium, and long term.

We carried out joint work sessions with the team involved in the development of the service to define with them the values, perception, and recognition that they wanted to achieve, and their relationship with the Ferrovial brand.

We defined the personality of the service, and its tone of voice. We provided a strategic vision and created a graphic universe and design language that could evolve over time, yet remain true to the company’s core values.

We unveiled our latest creation, “1O1 - Modular Mobility”, a new vehicle concept that combines electric autonomous mobility with an integrated modular system that helps cities to better manage resources and provide more sustainable, inclusive, flexible, and personalized options for moving citizens, services, and industry. 

# The challenge

Our challenge was to create a solution that would respond to the question: what does the future of urban transportation look like? as part of our internal R&D initiatives. We took into consideration the evolving needs of citizens within cities, such as a cleaner, safer, more affordable, and efficient transport and the better utilization of resources. As an example, the average use of private vehicles is less than 4% of the time, which means that they spend more than 23 hours a day parked somewhere in the city, taking up valuable space.

# Our Approach

We came up with “1O1 - Modular Mobility”, a concept that can transform and recombine “Power” and “Space” modules into a taxi, limousine, bus, ambulance, waste disposal mover, cargo and logistics transport and last mile delivery, as well as relocating Spaces like sleeper cabins, meeting rooms and food trucks. Adaptable to the user's need at any given moment, allowing 100% Power Module utilization. 

The system is designed to be available through a mobile application to request the service needed at any time, offering a solution to excessive traffic in cities, lack of parking spaces and increased demand for last mile delivery services, among others.

Modular mobility has the potential to be implemented by municipalities or the private sector in cities across the globe, thanks to its inherent flexibility. The solution addresses the utilization of our precious resources, as well as improving the range of personalized mobility options available for citizens. Overall making a positive impact on the environment and our daily lives. 

While we have already made this concept public to spark debate, we are currently in talks with various partners in the automotive, energy, technology and infrastructure sectors to develop the project further.
